Antenatal care: what to expect at each stage
Regular antenatal visits protect you and your baby. Here's an overview of what happens and why it matters.
Antenatal care helps identify and manage risks early in pregnancy. Starting care early and attending regularly makes a real difference.
Early pregnancy
Your first visit usually includes a health history, blood pressure, weight and blood tests. You'll discuss nutrition and supplements such as folic acid and iron.
Middle and late pregnancy
Visits track your baby's growth, your blood pressure and any symptoms. It's a good time to plan where you'll give birth.
Warning signs — seek care immediately
